Harbor privacy policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Harbor is a Chrome extension that protects you from online scams. It is built to work on your own device.

What stays on your device

Harbor checks the websites you visit, links on search results, downloads and (only if you turn it on) emails you open in Gmail or Outlook. All of these checks happen on your computer. Your browsing, emails, settings, trusted and blocked sites and emergency contacts are never sent to us or anyone else.

The optional Smart AI also runs entirely on your computer.

What Harbor downloads

Harbor downloads public lists of known scam sites (OpenPhish, URLhaus) and Harbor's own list of reported scam sites. Downloading a list does not send anything about you.

What is sent only if you choose to

If you press "Report as a scam" or "Report a mistake", Harbor sends: that one web address (without anything after a ? or #), what Harbor said about it, your optional note, and a random install ID used to stop abuse. Your IP address is turned into a scrambled code that can't be reversed, used only to limit spam. Nothing else about you or your browsing is sent. A person reviews reports.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share data, show you ads, track you, or use data for anything other than protecting you from scams.

Ad and tracker lists

The optional ad and tracker blockers use lists by The EasyList authors (easylist.to). They run inside your browser.
